Introduction
I chose the guild name, Resolute Honor, because it embodies what I want out of Vanguard and what I want to achieve with this guild. I want all of our members to be honorable people. I want everyone to play with the upmost integrity and honesty. I believe that honorable, mature people can form lasting friendships that can make playing Vanguard fun for years to come.
First off, this charter is a work in progress. As the game nears release and our membership grows, adjustments will be made. This document will reflect why Resolute Honor exists and how we operate in Vanguard.
Goals
1. Have fun!
2. Become a team.
3. Kill big stuff.
4. Better the guild by bettering our guildmates.
I want to keep everything simple. When things become too complicated, people get burnt out. Vanguard isn't a job. Vanguard is a game. Games are meant to be fun. I want to make a guild where our number one goal is to have fun. I guess I better define what I consider fun. Fun to me is building a team, leveling and decking out that team, and killing lots of stuff. I want people around me that want the same thing that I do.
I can't stand everyone doing their own thing. I want people that want to build up themselves and their guild. If we aren't raiding, I want everyone together exping. The more time we spend together, the better we can work as a team. Plus being together creates bonds that are hard to break when things get rough.
I want to emphasize simplicty. I don't want alot of rules. The things I see that cause the most problems in a guild are twinking, loot, and participation.
Expectations
Pre Release
1. Find people that agree with Resolute Honor's charter and have the maturity level to join our ranks.
2. Have 25 active members before the game is released.
3. All members will conduct themselves in an honorable manner on all messageboards associated with Vanguard: Saga of Heros
Post Release
1. Slowly build the guild to approxiamtely 35 active members. I don't want to be huge. I want to be good. Strategy and skill will overcome our lack of huge numbers.
2. Help each other out. This is what I enjoy the most. I think I get more satisfaction seeing my friends get phat loot than when I get it. I am looking for people with that type of attitude.
3. My playtimes will be around 8pm to 1am eastern time. I'm sure that I will play outside that window. However, I'm looking for people that play during that time frame.
4. The goal is to level together as a guild. I know during the beginning some will be able to spend obscene amounts of time playing. I don't want the guild to fracture right off the bat because some people can play 15 hours a day and other can only do 5. My current plan is to have a level curve with a range of levels that everyone must fall in. If you are the type of person that can not slow down so that you won't outpace your guildmates, then don't even bother applying. Conversly, if you can't dedicate enough time to keep up, then don't bother joining. My long term goal is to build a raid guild that raids almost nightly. However, my guild probably won't be doing server firsts because the members actually have other responsibilites other than Vanguard.
Loot Distribution
At this time, I have not determined how loot will be distributed. I love the simplicity of officer allocation; however, it is open to abuse and can cause drama. I like the objectivity that a DKP system provides but I abhore the bookkeeping required for a DKP system. My goal is to develop a system that rewards participation while at the same time maximizes the guild's advancement. I know that loot is important. However, I'm really looking for people that consider loot secondary. I want people that would rather advance the guild than advance themselves.
Update (5/3/2005)
I have found there are plenty of tools available to help manage a DKP loot system. Loot will be distributed via some sort of DKP system. The rules of the loot system will be flushed out as we go forward. Two major goals for the system will be to limit point inflation and discourage point hoarding.
Twinking
Twinks are fun. However, you are here so that your main character can advance the guild. After lauch there will be ample time for everyone to lock in what class that they want to play. After that you are expected to stay with the level curve. If you play alot then you will have plenty of time to play your main and your twink.
Participation
This guild was formed to play as a team. If you are on during 8pm to 1am, it is guild time. Not time to go play by yourself. |
